Gucci goes digital with Eyeweb sunglasses! NICE!!!

Could this one possibly take over from dirtydirtydancing.com as our favourite new party site? Gucci has gone all tech-savvy on us and created a social networking site to celebrate the launch of its new sunglasses line, Eyeweb.
Users can upload photos online at guccieyeweb.com to share with friends and watch them in a slideshow over a 3D format of the Eyeweb glasses. You can add photos to a timeline as well as change which virtual city you’re in, which also alters the language and background music of the page. It's all very glam European party scene! The new glasses, designed by Gucci’s creative director Frida Giannini (who makes a cameo in one of the shots in the Milan section of the site), are inspired by all things digital and are all marked with the signature green and red stripes used on the website. They come in two models (male and female, distinguished by a single G hallmark for the boys, and a GG for the girls) and six colours, with three new models set to be introduced in spring 2010.

'I designed these sunglasses and the accompanying social networking site with today's digital generation in mind. I hope that they will both enjoy wearing them and reflecting and connecting their own creativity with their friends around the world,' says Frida.
Gucci Eyeweb sunglasses will be priced at £135. To have a look around and see the great graphics for yourself, check out www.guccieyeweb.com.

Workers sentenced in credit-card scheme at Gucci, Louis Vuitton

WOW
http://www.ajc.com/news/workers-sentenced-in-credit-163090.html

Former workers at Louis Vuitton at Lenox Mall and Gucci at Phipps Plaza were sentenced Wednesday for helping two men buy merchandise using fraudulent credit cards, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Carlton J. Maxey, 40, the Louis Vuitton sales associate, received two years in prison and was ordered to pay $199,293 in restitution. Lee S. Brockwell, 32, the Gucci employee, was sentenced to four months in a halfway house followed by four months of house arrest and ordered to pay $116,589 in restitution.

According to prosecutors, James O. Omotosho, 39, and Aghedo P. Iyamu, 43, both of Atlanta, obtained pre-approved credit card applications stolen from the mail. They also got the social security numbers and dates of birth of the intended recipients, prosecutors said.

Brockwell knew both men and waited on them at Gucci, while Maxey knew Iyamu and helped him buy items at Louis Vuitton, including a $20,000 watch, prosecutors said.

Through this and other schemes, prosecutors said, Omotosho tried to commit more than $900,000 in bank and credit card fraud, and Iyamu and Maxey more than $300,000.

Omotosho was sentenced to 10 years in prison and ordered to pay $288,318 in restitution. Iyamu was sentenced to five years, 10 months in prison and ordered to pay $173,549 in restitution.

diversity

Gucci does not market to everyone.  Gucci dont make clothes to fit heavy set people. Plus size is especially left out most european brand ads. African Americans is another group that is ignored. Expect for Rihanna she was in a Gucci fundrasier ad.

Happy 100th Bday Granny

Flora

Flora, one of the most loved Gucci icons, was born as a special commission for Princess Grace of Monaco in 1966. The princess had paid a visit to the Gucci store in Milan with Prince Ranier. Having bought a green “bamboo bag” Rodolfo Gucci insisted she selected a gift. When she relented she asked for a scarf. Rodolfo was distressed: he felt Gucci lacked one special enough for his distinguished guest. He immediately contacted the renowned illustrator Vittorio Accornero, to design the most beautiful floral scarf he could create. The next day Accornero returned with his painting: it was the “Flora”, a multicoloured flowered template that was destined for an unimaginably extended future.

THE GG

Guccio Gucci’s initials were first used in the early Sixties – as either single or double Gs – as squared-off fastenings for bags which were developed and made in Gucci’s own forge at the Via delle Caldaie in Florence. Transferred soon after into a diamond-shaped pattern woven into the best-selling cotton canvas luggage, the GG monogram transported the company’s fame, quite literally, around the globe in the much-photographed company of movie-stars, aristocrats and socialites.

brief history

Gucci was established in 1921 by a guy name Guccio Gucci. It started off as a leather goods and small luggage store in his native Florence. In the 1930's the brand had already gained success and recieved international clientele. In the 1950's he came up with the trademark of the green-red-green web which is well known and recognized today. In 1953 Guccio Gucci dies and his four sons takes over the business. In 1998 Gucci is named "European Company" of the year.
